Real Workouts.
Not “Just Cross-Train”

These are examples of the kind of structured sessions RunReserve builds for runners whose normal training is limited.

Different equipment. Different levels of running. Same idea: give the week structure, progression, and purpose.

Every RunReserve plan is built around the individual runner — including the activities available to them, their equipment, schedule, training background, goals, and any restrictions they need to respect.

The workouts below are examples, not individualized prescriptions. Use only activities that are appropriate for you and consistent with any medical guidance or restrictions you’ve been given.

Round 2

Round 3
5 min bike

500m row, slightly more resistance

Round 4
5 min bike
60 sec battle ropes
500m row at your highest comfortable setting

PROGRESSION WITHOUT JUST ADDING MORE TIME
The session changes modality throughout while gradually increasing effort across the rounds.

RUN

RUNNING IN SMALL DOSES

SPIN, SKI, ROW, RUN CIRCUIT

Spin bike · SkiErg · Rower · Running
~ 50-55 minutes · 4 rounds

Workout

Warm-up
8 min spin bike

Main work
Build four rounds using:

  • 500m SkiErg

  • 500m row

  • 800m easy run

  • Increase machine resistance gradually across the rounds

Total running
Approximately 1.5 miles across the session

BREAK THE RUNNING INTO CONTROLLED SEGMENTS
Instead of making running the entire workout, short run segments are distributed between longer cross-training efforts.

03
RUN
ROW
ELLIPTICAL
SKI

MORE RUNNING. CROSS-TRAINING STILL HAS A JOB

RUN-ROW-ELLIPTICAL-SKIERG MIX

Rower · SkiErg · Elliptical · Running
~ 55-60 minutes · 5 rounds

Workout

Warm-up
1 mile easy run

Main work

Use run segments of:

  • 1.5 miles

  • 1 mile

  • 1 mile

Break the running up with rowing, SkiErg, and elliptical intervals (time-based or distance-based) between efforts.

Adjust machine resistance and effort across the session rather than repeating the exact same workload every round.

RUNNING CAN BE THE ANCHOR WITHOUT BEING THE WHOLE SESSION
Cross-training between run segments creates a longer, more varied training session without simply stacking additional running miles.

A Sample Workout Isn’t A Training Plan

A sample gives you:

  • A session structure

  • Equipment combinations

  • An example of progression

  • Something useful to try when it fits

Your RunReserve Plan accounts for:

  • What you can currently do

  • Equipment you actually have

  • How much time you have

  • Your current training volume

  • Your goals

  • Changes from week to week

The difference isn’t having more exercises. It’s knowing what to do this week, what comes next, and how the pieces fit together.
